HISTORY

The first Canyon Nets team was formed in 1991 with a total of four players. Because there was no other competition in town, or for that matter in the entire state, they practiced against the senior men’s team.

Over 400 women have since come through our program and today our active roster contains over 50 members between the ages of 50 and 87. Our teams play locally, travel to out-of-state tournaments, have represented the State of New Mexico at the National Senior Games since 1993 and will continue that tradition in Birmingham in 2017 and Albuquerque in 2019.

Our program is separated into seven different age groups: 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-80 and 80+. At the core of the Canyon Nets program are wonderful women who volunteer to coach and give tirelessly of their time, talents, and experience at our weekly practices.
